Ashtrom

24/7 Managed AWS Operations and FinOps for a Hospitality Platform

Since October 2022 Compie operates Ashtrom's hospitality platform on AWS as a managed service: 24/7 NOC monitoring, incident response within 30 minutes, security monitoring and quarterly FinOps reviews that keep the environment stable and cost-optimized.

The challenge

Ashtrom runs a customer-facing hospitality platform on AWS, built from containerized microservices and serving about 2.4 million API requests per month across development and production environments. Ashtrom needed a partner to operate the platform day to day, respond to incidents around the clock, keep it secure and keep its cloud cost under continuous control.
The challenge

The solution

Since October 2022 Compie operates Ashtrom's AWS environment under a Cloud Managed Services agreement. The platform runs on Amazon ECS on AWS Fargate, a highly available Amazon Aurora MySQL cluster, Amazon API Gateway, AWS WAF, Amazon CloudFront, Amazon Cognito, AWS Lambda, Amazon SES, AWS Secrets Manager, Amazon Route 53 and Amazon CloudWatch, in separate development and production accounts.
The solution

What Compie operates every day

- 24/7 NOC: Amazon CloudWatch alarms are routed through Amazon SNS to Compie's on-call system and ticketing; blocking incidents are handled within 30 minutes, 24/7 - Security monitoring: automated detection of AWS Health risk events (such as exposed access keys), AWS WAF protection for the web application, CMS and API, and S3 upload restrictions implemented after a penetration test - FinOps: a quarterly cost review of every account, with recommendations tracked from quarter to quarter - Architecture: a quarterly architecture report with improvement recommendations - DevOps-as-a-Service: ongoing changes and customer requests through a ticketing system, with a monthly activity report
